What the tool does
A two wheeler feeler gauge with six blades of different thickness, designed for the measurements found on contact breaker points, spark plugs and valves.
When you need it
Setting the plug's electrode gap, checking the contact breaker gap, measuring valve clearance on four strokes, checking the air gap on coils.
How to use it
Choose the blade with the required measurement, combine two blades for intermediate sizes.
Slide the blade into the gap; it must go through with slight, even resistance.
On contacts and valves, measure the gap at the cam's highest point or at TDC respectively.
Estimated gap measurements are the most common cause of rough running, a weak spark and clattering valves.
Measure the electrode gap with the blade, but only bend the earth electrode, never the centre electrode.
