What the tool does

A hardened puller for crankshaft bearings of type BO 15 and BO 17, designed for bearing inner races up to a maximum of 25.5 mm.

When you need it

When dismantling the crankshaft, when the main bearings sit on the shaft stubs and have to come off without damaging the shaft or the bearing seat.

How to use it

  1. Take the crankshaft out of the casing, remove the circlips and spacer washers.

  2. Position the puller behind the bearing inner race; it must grip the inner race, not the cage.

  3. Pull it off evenly, keeping the shaft straight while doing so.

  4. Clean the bearing seat and check it for scoring, fit the new bearing warmed on.

Without this tool

Bearings pulled on the outer race are scrap afterwards, and a chisel on the inner race damages the shaft stub.

Workshop tip

Warm the new bearing in the oven to about 80 to 100 degrees, then it goes onto the shaft without any pressing force.
