What the tool does
A shaped piece of wood placed between the piston and the cylinder base gasket. The piston is set down onto it and this clamps the crankshaft still.
When you need it
When removing and fitting the cylinder and piston on Kreidler engines: to block the crankshaft for the flywheel or clutch nut, and to support the piston while sliding the cylinder on.
How to use it
Take off the cylinder, set the piston to TDC.
Place the piston support block on the base gasket face, turn the crankshaft until the piston sits exactly on the wood and clamps.
The flywheel or clutch nut can now be loosened without the shaft turning with it.
When fitting the cylinder: wood under the piston, compress the rings, slide the cylinder on, remove the wood.
A rag in the crankcase or a screwdriver against the con rod clamps the shaft in an uncontrolled way; the con rod and piston skirt take the damage.
The wood is deliberately soft. It is meant to take marks from the piston, not the other way round. Replace it once it becomes notched.
Fits
- Kreidler Florett, Flory, MF, MP, RS, RM, RMC, LF, LH
