What the tool does

The German made version of the ELDI degree wheel: 120 mm diameter, 6 mm bore, 0.8 mm polystyrene. Fitted onto the crankshaft or via a flywheel adapter, pointer made from about 2 mm wire.

When you need it

Setting ignition timing in degrees, measuring port timing, measuring a tuning cylinder.

0306090120150180150120906030ELDI · 120 mm 0°CRANK ANGLE

Drag to turn · pointer on the casing · 5° detents

Interactive degree wheel: drag, detents every 5 degrees.

How to use it

  1. Determine TDC with a TDC finder or dial gauge, set the wheel to 0.

  2. Fix the wire pointer to the casing.

  3. Read off the opening point (test lamp) or port edge clearance (port timing) in degrees.

Without this tool

Without a degree wheel, port timing cannot be measured and ignition values cannot be converted into degrees.

Workshop tip

This tool is functionally identical to the Swedish version; the difference is the place of manufacture. For determining top dead centre, the manufacturer recommends a TDC finder.

Fits

  • Zündapp, Kreidler, Hercules, Puch, Miele, DKW, KTM, Rixe
  • Bosch, Ducati, Motoplat and Noris ignition systems
