What the tool does
A steel holding tool that engages the clutch and blocks it while the clutch nut is loosened and tightened.
When you need it
Loosening the clutch nut without blocking the crankshaft via the piston or the chain.
How to use it
Remove the clutch cover.
Fit the tool into the clutch until it engages positively.
Loosen or tighten the clutch nut.
Remove the tool after assembly, close the cover with a new gasket.
A piston stop or a rag in the crankcase transmits the torque via the con rod and piston; that is the classic cause of a bent con rod.
In combination with the piston support block it is unnecessary: the holding tool is the gentler option.
